Organised by the Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments (LPS), Kuldiga municipal council, Latvian Open Technology Association (LATA), and the Covenant of Mayors Office.
(!) This webinar will be held in Latvian.
Since 2008, more than 10,000 European municipalities, including 24 in Latvia, have joined the Covenant of Mayors to adapt to the inevitable effects of climate change and to provide their citizens with secure, sustainable energy at affordable prices.
Starting from December 2019, the whole world learned about COVID-19, but all municipalities, including 119 in Latvia, have felt its impact. Also in December 2019, the European Commission presented a proposal for a European Green Deal aimed at tackling other existential threats to Europe: climate change and environmental degradation.
Will the COVID-19 crisis become an opportunity and open up new ideas to make municipalities more sustainable, more resource-efficient, turning environmental and health crisis challenges into opportunities? Representatives of local governments, non-governmental organisations and academics from the Covenant of Mayors Office in Brussels, Amsterdam, Saldus municipality and the University of Latvia will exchange with Latvian municipalities in a webinar.
Please register on the LPS website here by 25 May.
